BERT2011 (Bugger, Estrogen Receptive Tumor)….

Metastic breast cancer at 38

Why BERT???

Ok so the name for my blog is a little unusual :-)… So I thought perhaps a little explanation was in order.

When I was diagnosed with the tumour in my breast it was upsetting to keep calling that at first so whilst laid in bed one night my husband and I were talking about it and laughingly decided to give the tumour a name…. I wanted an old fashioned type name as a bit of fun and Bert was the only name we could think of that wasn’t associated with someone we knew! So Bert it became.

When I decided to start blogging about my experience we needed a name for the blog and my husband suggested Bert, as an acronym for Bugger, ( I have an) Estrogen Receptive Tumour

BERT has now, thankfully left the building… Just now need to get rid of any bertettes that may be floating around!

Hi Jane, Don’t know if you remember me, but I was with the team Between 2003 and 2007 as a contractor.

Had forgotten about your website, but came across one of your cards, recently, buried in a drawer. I’ll never forget those beautiful blue eyes!! Hence I went onto the web, only to hear of your unfortunate predicament. Delighted to hear the tumours are shrinking and disappearing.

You’ve got the fighting spirit and that is what works in this type of situation. So keep it up gal and you’ll be fine. My brother went through a similar experience and pointed me at a web site covering the work of Rene Caisse, A Canadian, I think, nurse who was given a recipe by an old American Indian. It was named Essiac in her memory. He, my brother, used the ingredients listed to help him through his trauma.

Best of Wishes for a full recovery

    Richard (Willett)
